Day 27 – Why I Love Our Country

In trying times it is easy to get beaten up, beaten down, and feel like you are fighting an uphill battle.  However, we live in a beautiful country, full of amazing people – who are good, honest, hard-working, and loving people.  THIS is what we have to remember, because it is this love that is going to get us out of the terrible mess that we are in.

Each of us has a role to play, each of us has only so much we can do and so much we can give – this is our power.  Our friends, families, communities, counties, are all a part of something great.  Don’t sit back and feel like you can’t do anything – you can and we will.  We are doing that every moment, with each word that we speak, each story that we write, each moment that we feel empowered and in control.

After trying experiences in my own small business, thanks to the havoc wrecked on the American people by our monetary policy (e.g. the Federal Reserve), I decided that it is time for good, honest, people with integrity and character to step up and take back our power at the federal level.  I love our country, our country is the beacon for every other human being on the planet, to embrace freedom.  We have our problems, as a matter of fact, right now our country is engaging in some awful acts against humanity and its own people, however this does not change what our country stands for and will stand for again.  Our country is where everyone is endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights – and among these are life.

This moment is all we have – live it, use it for good, use it to create our destiny – one with prosperity, freedom, and peace.

Day 26 – American Women’s Role in the Liberty Movement

Unless you have had a chance to study international politics, or international sociology, perhaps, then it is easy to forget how incredibly free we are as women living in the United States of America.

American women stand in between liberty and an un-free world.  American women are the role model for civil rights, peaceful discourse, and respectful love.

We must not vote based on emotion alone – emotion has a place – there is nothing wrong with being compassionate – however there is a certain truth that must accompany how we feel, and this election, it is up to us to decipher this truth from the words and the marketing that is going to be handed to us.

We all want the best for our children and our families.  We want them to have jobs, we want them to have healthcare, we want them to be able to live a “good life” and enjoy life.  We all want that – now we must figure out the best means to be able to accomplish this successfully.

This election, I am asking for voters, especially women and the next generation of mothers, to look hard at candidates and vet them – learn about who they really are, what they really stand for – not just what they “say”.  We all want great things for our kids – don’t let your children be taken hostage into their political rhetoric that has NO ACTION, NO MEANING, and NO HEART.  Vote for candidates who stand for the truth and have an actual plan about how to fix our broken systems – namely by leaving people alone and letting them keep the money that they earn.

This election, use your emotion to guide you to candidates who speak about the truth.  American women have immense power in the world-stage for freedom – let us exercise this in 2012.

Day 24 – Posada & Bessemer Historical Society

Today, in Pueblo County, there were two great community events being put on by organizations that are closely involved with the people of this area.
Posada, is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to people who are homeless or who have serious problems being able to take care of basic necessities with their families.  I talked to the director for a brief time, learning about some of the issues for Pueblo County.  Energy costs, thanks to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and Black Hills Energy (BHE), are sky-rocketing.  While BHE posts amazing profits – people on fixed incomes or that have lost their income – are getting their energy shut off.  With new deposit requirements, sometimes it is nearly impossible for these same people to get their energy turned back on.  A vicious cycle.  Listen, I am a hard-core capitalist, but why is it that the government (PUC) is so closely tied to industry (BHE)?  Could there be any room for problems?  I think so.  Innocent people suffer when those in positions of power (both government and industry) take advantage of loopholes in our “laws” and business environment.  Innocent people suffer – and that is wrong.

More and more people become homeless.  As a matter of fact, if I did not have a family to fall back on after the economic chaos in 2008, I myself would be homeless.  I work 70 hours a week, I work hard – there are many people like me who are suffering due to the atrocities happening at a federal level.  This must stop.
I was also able to go to an event put on by the Bessemer Historical Society.  This event had a great car-show, chili vendors, and other small businesses and organizations with booths helping to educate and sell products to the community.  I walked around with a good friend, and got to shake hands with some amazing people.  It doesn’t matter if they were Democrat or Republican, the people that I spoke to were great people.  And that is what community is all about.

Oftentimes, we forget how important it is to know the people around you, to lend a helping hand, and to love people as much as you can.  Our society is far away from that – there are pockets of good, and pockets of bad – what we need it so work together – the people need to work together to find actual positive and actionable solutions at a local, state, and federal level.  It is up to us – I don’t care what political affiliation you are.

Day 23 – I-25 Corridor

“What we want today to bring us all together is, not union under one government that shall assume to govern, but that absolute freedom of intercourse that shall entwine all interests, that absolute freedom of intercourse that shall establish a daily ferry from this side of Atlantic to the other side of the Atlantic, that shall make everyone belonging to any of these nations, wherever he may be on the territory of another, feel as though he were at home. That is what we strive for – for the freedom of all, for self-government to all – and for as little government as possible. We don’t believe that tyranny is a thing alone of kings and monarchs; we know well that majorities can be as tyrannous as aristocracies; we know that mobs can persecute as well as crowned heads. What we ask for is freedom – that in each locality, large or small, the people of that locality shall be free to manage the affairs that pertain only to that locality; that each individual shall be free to manage the affairs that relate to him; that governments shall not presume to say of whom he shall buy or to whom he shall sell, shall not attempt to dictate to him in any way, but shall confine itself to its proper function of preserving the public peace, of preventing the strong from oppressing the weak, of utilizing the public good all the revenues that belong of right to the public, and of managing those affairs that are best managed by the whole. Our doctrine is the doctrine of freedom, our gospel is the gospel of liberty…”
