I just got off the phone from a troubling interview. I was asked a lot about my personal life – my youth, my marriage, and how this affects the voters of the 3rd Congressional District.
I am honest – so, when I say I don’t know something, it is because I really do not know it. I won’t lie – at this particular instance I could not remember the date of my divorce to my husband, who was a veteran and had recently come back from the Iraq War. To be honest, that was a very painful time for me, and much is a blur, and all I can say to you and to everyone is that I have been a military wife, I have loved a man who was a part of the military, and that I remain dedicated to our troops who fight and die for our country. Of all of the people on the federal payroll, our troops deserve to be taken care of and protected – more so even than the representatives that decide to send them to war. And I will do everything in my power to protect the privacy of my former husband – he deserves that, and I would appreciate if others would show that respect.
My heart hurts when I am attacked because I am young or because I had a marriage that did not turn out the way that every girl dreams of – those are personal instances that I remain accountable for and have learned very much from – that contribute to my world view and my ability to speak on the issues. We should be talking about the issues, that is what is really important to me and to the voters of the 3rd Congressional District.
When I am attacked, and it is coming, I am happy to express gratitude and acknowledgement for the threat that I am. I am a threat to the establishment – a threat to both parties – that refuse to be honest about their capability of “helping” the American people. Your political party can’t help you – the only person that can help you is yourself, and I am running to protect your individual right to freedom and to protect yourself, your family, your community, your property, and your ability to create wealth. I am a threat because I am real, because I am unscripted, because I am an orphan of the American Dream – and I represent a lot of people whose homes, net worth, paycheck, and bank accounts have been stolen because of the Republicans and the Democrats in Washington, D.C.
